— Intro to Marryy.me —
Marriage — for some of us it is the ultimate goal of a relationship. Finding someone to spend the rest of your life with, however, is no easy task.
Yes, if you were to base your expectations on romantic comedies, your future spouse would be waiting for you just around the corner. Reality, however, tends to make things a bit more difficult. Usually, you will have to go out with many “frogs” and “frogettes” to find your prince or princess.
You might think, “well that’s what dating sites are for, right?” While dating sites are there to help you find a potential dating partner, their range and focus are often times too broad. Even sites that promote themselves as long-term dating sites don’t necessarily focus on the topic of marriage and marriage material.
This is the area where a dating site known as Marryy.me attempts to differentiate itself in the marketplace. It advertises itself as focusing exclusively on those people who are marriage-minded.
Honestly, the concept sounds very intriguing. So much so, that we decided to thoroughly test Marryy.me to see how effective it is.
— Our Initial Impression —
We always caution our readers not to react too swiftly to their first visual impression of any dating site. Sometimes, a site that looks archaic can be quite effective and fruitful. In the case of Marryy.me, most visitors would probably describe its welcome page as being plain to neutral.
Having a tad bit more experience than the average viewer, our staff was able to detect something different about Marryy.me based on its welcome page. Everything from the design of its logo to the selection of its background image to the structuring and placement of its registration form all indicated to us that the site may not be as solid as some people might think.
In general, Marryy.me’s front page looks slapped together — it lacks aesthetic cohesion and that is often an indication of something being amiss internally.
— Registration Process —
The registration process for Marryy.me follows a simplified format. All that new users need to do is fill out the basic form found on the welcome page. It will ask you to provide your gender, the gender of the partner you are seeking, your date of birth, your desired screen name for the platform, your choice of password, and a valid email address.
Once you complete that, you will be redirected to an internal page advising you to check your email address in order to click on a verification link that is sent to you. Once you click on that link, you are redirected back to the site and your account is activated.
After activating your account, you will be sent to a page where you may add some text about yourself and the partner who you are seeking. Additionally, you’re also given the option of uploading an image and video to your profile. All of this, however, is not mandatory. This is unfortunate in that it results in Marryy.me having many profiles that lack images and that contain significant gaps in information.
— The Platform and User Interface —
When our testers arrived at Marryy.me’s user interface, they realized that they were on a site being powered by a dating service provider that specializes in offering white label services to other companies. In other words, Marryy.me is a dating site that relies on the technical infrastructure and user database of another entity.
While that in and of itself is not necessarily a negative, it does come with some issues. For example, you are not guaranteed that the people whose profiles you will be shown all registered via Marryy.me directly. Some of them could have registered on other dating sites served by the umbrella company. This means that many members on the site did not necessarily join with marriage being the first thing on their mind.
— Features —
The features offered by Marryy.me are simplistic. You have a browsing and discovery feature which offers you a moderate level of filtration. There is also a discovery game similar to what you find on swipe-based dating apps. The game is hosted by the larger platform provider and not by Marryy.me directly. It is called “flirt” and presents you with user profiles that you might be interested in. If you like the profile you are shown, you can click on the gree “flirt” button or click on the “not now” button to pass.
Communication is handled platform’s chat module. It is pretty intuitive to use and allows users to hook up via webcam. That particular component is one of the sites best features.
Mobile capability is limited. Marryy.me lacks native mobile apps. In order to access Marryy.me on a smartphone, you must use your mobile browser and access the site that way. That type of mobile experience is less than optimal. All of our testers described the mobile experience as “pathetic.”
— Cost —
In order to get any significant functionality out of Marryy.me you need to pay for a premium membership. A gold membership has a cost of $15.75 per month and allows you to view all of the site’s media galleries, use the advanced search features, use the webcam option on the online chat module, as well as empowering you to send and reply to all incoming messages.
— Quality of Fellow Users —
As we stated earlier, the main problem that we have with the quality of users on Marryy.me is that they do not all originate from the site Itself. By our estimation, over 90 percent of the profiles that you will find on the platform are curated from the larger white-label provider’s database.
In our opinion, this is what contributes directly to the large number of inactive and incomplete profiles that you will find on Marryy.me. Also, when you do encounter somebody that you find interesting chances are that you will encounter an awkward moment when you mention the topic of marriage and the other person seems to be taken by surprise. That is understandable if they signed up via a site using different branding.
All in all, this leads to a poor user experience
