Signs that a Woman is Interested in You

Signs that a Woman is Interested in You

Whether it happens while on a date, a casual meet-up, or even through a chance encounter — there are telltale signs when a woman is genuinely interested in you. Some are nuanced, others are more obvious, but they are present. Knowing what to look for in determining where you stand with that “special lady” can go a long way in sparking a romance or simply cutting your losses and moving on.

These are the 10 signs that a woman is interested in you.

  1. She’ll Brand You — Figuratively, of Course
No, hot branding irons are usually not involved in this, but if she’s really into you, she will make it known, especially to other women. If you notice that she is being protective of you. If she interrupts other women when they are trying to speak to you, there’s a very decent chance that she is interested in keeping you all for herself.

  2. She Initiates a Call or Text
If in the time that you are struggling to write a witty text, or practicing your “smoothest” lines for a phone call, she calls or texts you first, she’s probably interested. Of course, the context of her communication will help you determine this with greater certainty. If she communicates flattering commentary or is openly suggestive about meeting up, the sign of interest should be obvious.

  3. She Doesn’t Build a Wall of Stuff in Front of You
The Great Wall of China, Hadrian’s Wall… they were all constructed to keep people away. Women use this same tactic, except it is not to keep hordes of Mongols or Celts at bay — rather, they do it to keep you at a distance. They don’t use stones or wood to wall you out, they use ordinary everyday items. If, when you sit in front of her, or next to her, you notice that she actively clears items (cell phones, purse, keys, glasses, etc) that lie between the both of you, that’s a sign that she doesn’t want a barrier between you and is interested.

  4. Prolonged Eye Contact
As the character of Tony Montana said on the movie Scarface, “the eyes, Chico, they never lie.” If a woman is making extended eye contact with you, even if you catch her staring at you while you are turned away, that is indicative of interest and attraction. If you return the sustained eye contact and she begins smiling or coquettishly giggling, well, sir, she most probably likes you!

  5. She Starts Touching You
Gentle, caressing touches to your back, especially the base of your back, or if seated, to your upper thigh. These are strong signs that a woman is interested.

  6. She Highlights Her Availability
You have probably been at the receiving end of the opposite sign to this when a woman repeatedly mentions the fact that she has a boyfriend. Usually, that is a strong sign that she wants nothing to do with you. However, that ploy also works in reverse. If a woman makes it a point to mention her single status repeatedly, it is usually because she wants you to know that she is available. She is actively sending you a sign of interest.

  7. The Kinetic Signs — a.k.a Body Language
Entire books have been written on the subject of body language and how it can be used to measure attraction. While insightful reading, sticking to a few basic kinetic signs should serve you well to gauge her interest in you. If she tosses her hair, keeps her head tilted exposing her neck to you, softly bites her lower lip or slowly licks her lips, these are primeval signs of genuine interest from a woman. A singular expression of one of these signs may not necessarily be interest, but if repeated, or if multiple signs are present, it likely is a sign.

  8. Take a Cue From Her Friends
Whether you already know her, or if you just spotted her at a crowded party, look to her friends’ reactions to help you gauge if she’s interested in you. If a woman finds you attractive or if she finds you interesting, she will invariably communicate this to her friends. If you walk by and you notice her friends staring at you, perhaps even smiling or giggling in a knowing fashion, it’s probably because she has mentioned some interest in you to them. Likewise, if you approach her while she’s with her friends and they all politely excuse themselves to give you a moment alone, that is another positive sign. If, however, when you approach her friends instinctively circle around her as if to form a buffer between you and her, well, in that case, it would probably be best to move on.

  9. She Blushes
All people blush. It can be a sign of nervousness, shyness, and anxiety. You may ask yourself, how could any of those traits be considered a positive sign in the world of human attraction? The answer is simple. Some woman react with precisely those traits when someone that they are interested in approaches them. So, if she constantly blushes around you, she may be interested.

  10. She Moves in Closer
Men and women are very protective about their personal spaces. Our natural instinct is to take a step back if we feel that someone is encroaching upon our space. That is why when the opposite happens and she makes a concerted effort to draw herself closer to you as you speak, or by sitting closer to you, that is highly indicative that she’s genuinely interested in you.
