The site calls what it does Partnervermittlung and Kontaktanzeigen, partner matching and personal ads, and the member stories it puts on the front page are engagement and marriage stories. Anyone who arrived expecting a hookup site is looking at something else.
It is a German-language Singlebörse aimed at Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and by its own account it has never charged for anything. The homepage says “Flirtstar.at ist zu 100% kostenlos, und das seit über 16 Jahren. Wir finanzieren uns über Werbung”, so the money comes from advertising rather than from members. It puts about 95 percent of its members in those three countries, and there is no English version and no language switcher anywhere on the public site.

The Audience FlirtStar.at Claims For Itself
The only size figures going are the site’s own, and they sit at two different scopes. The hero advertises “Über 300.000 Singles”, over 300,000 singles, with no country attached. Further down, a block headed “Singles aus ganz Österreich” says “Über 100.000 Singles warten auf Dich”, over 100,000 waiting, this time specifically across Austria. Neither figure is broken down by activity or by gender.
One thing about the site’s age is checkable from outside it. The Internet Archive’s earliest capture of the domain is from 29 January 2004, which lines up with the “seit 2004” the homepage claims for itself.

What It Costs, And Why There Is Nothing To Cancel
There is no payment clause in either legal document. No credits, no coins, no subscription, no trial and no premium upgrade appear in the terms or the privacy policy, and the foot of the AGB page states it outright: “Flirtstar.at enthält ausschließlich Dienstleistungen, die dem User kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt werden!” Everything on the site is provided to the user free of charge.
The homepage puts the same point in membership terms: “Bei uns ist jede und jeder ein Premium-Mitglied, mit den gleichen Rechten.” Everyone is a premium member with the same rights. It also says you can chat as much as you like and browse all photos straight away.
Because nothing is charged, there is no card descriptor to watch for, no renewal date, no refund policy and no billing to cancel. On deletion, the privacy policy states that the whole user profile and everything entered into it “kann jederzeit vom jeweiligen Nutzer bearbeit und gelöscht werden”, can be edited and deleted by the user at any time.
What the free model does cost you is inbox space, and the terms say so. The AGB has members agree to advertising mail “in unregelmäßigen Abständen (ca. alle 2 Wochen)”, at irregular intervals of roughly every two weeks, and gives the reason plainly: it is what keeps the site free. Unsubscribing is stated as available in the logged-in area at any time.
The terms do carry one clause about money, under the heading “Andere Content Provider”. It says services from independent third parties reachable through the site “können zusätzlichen Bedingungen unterliegen und für das Mitglied kostenpflichtig sein”, may carry extra conditions and may be chargeable to the member, and put the burden on the member to check that provider’s own prices first.
What Their German Paperwork Says
The operator is named by the site itself in four places and never hedged. The terms open with “YOON Limited, im Folgenden auch Anbieter oder Service bezeichnet”, the copyright line at the foot of the same page carries the same company name for 2025 and 2026, the imprint block on that page gives an address at Castle Peak Road in Lai Chi Kok, Hong Kong, and the privacy policy names “der Yoon Limited” as the party the data consent is given to. There is no separate imprint page. The footer link expands a block that already sits inside the terms.
The terms set the governing law for a company addressed in Hong Kong as an Austrian one. They say “Sämtliche Rechte und Pflichten aus der Nutzung des Dienstes unterliegen österreichischem Recht”, all rights and duties arising from use of the service fall under Austrian law, and they name Vienna as the exclusive court.
The same document turns up on five other brands. flirtstar.at, flirtmit.de, flirtmit.at, flirtmit.ch, flirtbob.at and flirtstage.com each serve their terms at /agb.php, each name YOON Limited, and each carry the same clauses with only the domain string swapped in. The German face at flirtmit.de carries the Austrian law and Vienna court clause word for word. They also load an identical /nfs/ bundle of static files, down to the file names.
On profiles, there is no fictitious-profile clause in either document, no entertainment-purposes wording and no statement that meeting is not possible. What is there instead is a claim of human checking, in a homepage block headed “Redaktionelle Kontrolle”: “Alle Profile und Fotos werden von unserem Redaktionsteam geprüft.” All profiles and photos are checked by the editorial team. The photo section of the same terms page sets out what that process is and what it is not: “Wir entscheiden täglich über hunderte Fotos. Hinter diesem Vorgang stehen Menschen, die sich in Einzelfällen auch einmal irren können.” They decide on hundreds of photos a day, and the people doing it can get one wrong now and again.
The terms back it with a right to act. The operator “ist berechtigt, Profile … mit Verdacht auf gefälschte, nicht wahrheitsgetreue … Angaben bzw. doppelte Anmeldungen ohne Rückmeldung an den betreffenden Nutzer zu sperren oder zu löschen”, meaning suspected fake, untruthful or duplicate accounts can be blocked or deleted without the holder being told. The house rules list photos that mislead about identity as unwanted, and deliberate deception about gender, along with any form of prostitution, as forbidden.

The homepage adds that every member is a premium member with identical rights, so there is no upgrade tier sitting behind the free one. The stated revenue source is advertising, and the privacy policy names Google Ireland Limited as one of the third parties serving those ads.
Is FlirtStar a hookup site?
