What Happened to InstaBoink?

InstaBoink went quiet without ever saying so. The last time the archive caught a working version of the site was 8 May 2023. By 28 March 2024 the crawler was getting redirects instead of a page, and every attempt after that, through to February 2025, came back either redirected or refused. Nobody posted a closing notice, and there was no farewell on the site itself.

What that last working capture actually shows is worth a minute, because it is not really a dating site. The page called itself “the #1 Dating Site”, claimed “Over 5 Million+ Members”, and asked you to pick from a dropdown reading Man Searching For Women, Woman Searching For Men, Man Searching For Men, Woman Searching For Women, Couple Searching For Partners. Then it interrupted with a panel headed ATTENTION, explaining that before it could show you anyone it needed your preferences, and that its “DateSmart” technology would find you a match “43% faster”. Then it asked whether you were comfortable receiving messages and photos on this device. Behind all of it, the page’s own code sent the click through a redirect handler rather than to a member area.

So by the end InstaBoink was a funnel with a dating site painted on the front, and the questionnaire was the product.

Today the domain resolves to 127.0.0.1, which is the address a machine uses for itself. It is on live Cloudflare nameservers, so somebody is still paying for the name and has deliberately pointed it nowhere. There is no page, no holding message and no for-sale notice. The prices below, €27.23 for a month and €40.77 for three, are what it was charging while it lasted, and there is nothing left to cancel.
