YourLocalHookup
Everything in the name points at distance, and the site’s own terms take a position on distance. Some accounts on it are made by the operator, and the terms say that on those the “life events, experiences, interests, and geographic locations are all fictitious”. The same document says how to recognise one: they are “identified by a green dot containing a white heart icon”. Anyone joining a site that sells nearness has a reason to learn that dot first, because it is the marker the operator hands a member to check.
What An Email Address Gets You
Joining costs an email address and nothing else. The button on the lander reads “Join Now with E-mail. It’s FREE”, and no card, no name and no profile detail is asked for to get past it. On the other side of it sits a plan, monthly or yearly, entered through a 24 hour trial. Neither the terms nor the help desk mentions coins, credits or token packs anywhere, so there is no balance to buy and nothing priced by the message. Asked what a free member can do, the site answers with one line: “a limited amount of features”.

What The Public Record Shows About Its Reach
The registry record for the domain gives a creation date of 21 December 2018, a change logged on 14 May 2026 and a registration paid through to December 2026. The name has been held without a break for close to eight years.
The Cyprus Registrar of Companies returns the operator under number HE 403308 as a company, with an organisation status field reading “Στάληκε επιστολή Υπενθύμισης”, which translates as a reminder letter having been sent. On its own trust and safety page the site states it is registered with the RTA label scheme, which is what lets filtering software block it.
Four shots: the front of the site three times, and its contact desk. Open the contact one large. The site keeps its answers on billing and on the trial inside an accordion on that page, and none of them show until each question is clicked.
What Your Membership Does On Day Two
The help desk describes the trial as one that “lets you explore any paid plan for 24 hours”, and says the subscription to whichever plan was picked begins by itself at the end of it unless the member cancels first. On what the trial itself costs, that page is asked “Do I pay anything for the Welcome Trial?” and answers: “No. However, after signing up you might notice a transaction on your account, which is a pending authorization request and not an actual direct charge.”
Renewal is written into the terms in upper case: “UNTIL TERMINATED, THE SITE MAY AUTOMATICALLY RENEW ALL PAID MEMBERSHIPS UPON THEIR EXPIRATION.” Each period that ends rolls into another of the same length. A credit card may have the monthly rate held against its limit as a preauthorisation rather than taken, and where a prepaid card cannot carry that hold, the same section allows several smaller charges inside one billing cycle.
Two amounts are printed in the terms and neither is a plan rate: “a convenience fee of up to $4.99” attached to a payment that fails to process, and a further “$50” service charge stacked on top of collection charges.
What lands beside the transaction is covered by the help desk in one line: “The descriptor displayed next to the charge is very discreet, and you will not see Yourlocalhookup’s name appear on your billing statement.”
What The Terms Say About Where People Are
The Description of Service section states what the place is for. From the YourLocalHookup terms: “This is not a Site for meeting real individuals or arranging in-person encounters.” The purpose given in the next sentence is “to enable flirting chat conversations between the Users”, with everything happening there described as virtual. The warranty block further down disclaims, in capitals, any warranty “THAT YOU WILL MEET ANY OF OUR MEMBERS IN PERSON”, and calls the service one provided for amusement and entertainment. The panel in front of that document sells meeting and hanging out.
The profile clause follows a few lines later. It says “some Users of the Site may actually be created by the Company”, gives the reason as keeping conversation moving when few members are online, and describes the biography attached to such an account, its location included, as invented. Replies from those accounts may arrive with nobody typing them, or may come from contractors working for the operator. The green dot with the white heart is the tag the document puts on them.
Getting out is described twice, in two places. The terms open a cancellation window on the day of the upgrade that “shall end twenty-four (24) hours before the expiration of your Premium Membership”, taking requests by email or through the contact form, and they make a cancellation bite at the close of the cycle in progress rather than on the day it is sent. The help desk, covering the 24 hour trial, says a member who cancels it early still keeps “all the features of your trial plan for the rest of your 24-hour trial period”.
Refunds run the same way, across two sentences of one paragraph: “all purchases are non-refundable”, then “refund requests may be granted only in exceptional cases”. A capitalised line tells readers in the European Union that withdrawal rights on a distance purchase “ARE LOST UPON THE COMPLETION OF YOUR PAYMENT”. The operator is named in those terms, and its number, HE 403308, is printed in the privacy policy beside a data protection contact at dpo@karneolisltd.cy.
Questions People Type Before Joining A Site Called Local
Why does a transaction show up on the card straight after signing up?
The help desk puts that down to a hold rather than a payment. Its answer to “Do I pay anything for the Welcome Trial?” opens with a flat no, then says a member may notice a transaction which is “a pending authorization request and not an actual direct charge”. The terms describe the same mechanism from the other side: a member paying by credit card “may be subject to a preauthorization, which is not a charge to the credit card”, and the applicable monthly rate “may be reserved against the Premium User’s available credit card limit”. So the figure a cardholder sees at that stage is, in the site’s own description, the monthly rate being held against the available limit.
What changes if you pay with a prepaid card?
Two things, both stated by the site itself. The help desk lists debit, credit and prepaid as the only methods taken, then adds: “Please be advised that when using a prepaid card you are eligible for a monthly or yearly plan only, without a trial period option.” The second difference sits in the terms, where a prepaid card that cannot be preauthorised for the full monthly rate “may be charged incrementally”, spelled out in the same sentence as “multiple charges for less than the full applicable monthly rate may occur within the same monthly billing cycle”, with a prorated period of access granted against them.
What happens if a payment does not go through?
The terms attach two amounts to that, and neither of them is a plan rate. “If we are unable to process any payment, a convenience fee of up to $4.99 will be charged.” Should a balance reach collection, the same section adds that “an additional service charge of $50 will be applied on top of any collection charges”. That document also sets an order of operations for anything to do with money: a member with a payment issue agrees to “open a support ticket through the Site’s customer service to resolve the issue before taking any other action”.
What do the terms say about the locations shown on profiles?
That on some accounts they are invented. The terms state that the site “may create and maintain some AI profiles” in order to keep interactions going during low attendance hours, and that on those the “life events, experiences, interests, and geographic locations are all fictitious”. Messages from them “may be automatically generated with no human involvement, and/or may be generated by third parties hired or contracted by us”. The same paragraph supplies the label: company managed profiles “are identified by a green dot containing a white heart icon”. The document attaches no figure to how many accounts that covers, and says nothing about the towns shown on the rest of them.
Can YourLocalHookup be blocked on a shared computer?
The site says it carries the tag that makes that possible. Its trust and safety page states that it is registered with the RTA label scheme, which is a marker an adult site adds to its own pages so parental control and filtering software can recognise it and block the address without anybody maintaining a list by hand. Somebody sharing a machine who wants the domain shut off is therefore configuring the filtering software rather than asking the site for anything. The claim to carry the label is made on the site’s own page and can be read there.
Do European Union withdrawal rights apply to a purchase here?
The terms address that directly, and in capitals: “FOR RESIDENTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION WHO MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM DISTANCE PURCHASES, SUCH RIGHTS ARE LOST UPON THE COMPLETION OF YOUR PAYMENT DUE TO THE PERSONALIZED NATURE AND IRREVERSIBLE DELIVERY OF THE CONTENT AND SERVICE.” The sentence immediately before it reads “YOU AGREE THAT ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL.”
Does cancelling a membership also stop the emails?
No. The terms are explicit that ending a Premium Membership “does not imply the unsubscription from marketing and promotional email”, which makes them two jobs rather than one. The same section puts a cancellation into effect “with effect from the end of each membership cycle” rather than on the day the request is sent, so the two run on separate clocks. Requests about personal data, marketing consent included, are pointed at dpo@karneolisltd.cy by the privacy policy, a different address from the support one the terms give for ending a membership.
Who runs YourLocalHookup?
Karneolis Ltd, a Cyprus company. Its terms open by naming it as the party that owns and develops yourlocalhookup.com, and print the Nicosia address, Kennedy Ave 12-14, in upper case further down. The privacy policy casts the same company as data controller and adds the registration number, HE 403308. Put that number into the Cyprus register and the row that comes back reads KARNEOLIS LIMITED, type company, with an organisation status field recording a reminder letter sent. The domain itself was registered in December 2018.
How Local Was It, Really?
Distance is what this name sells, so that is the part worth hearing about from anybody who joined. What towns came back when you searched, and how far out did the results reach before they thinned? Did the same faces turn up under two different postcodes? Did anyone ever name a bar, a street or a night that existed? Add what the card did, at the end.
